Waste collection charge
General
The waste collection charge takes the form of a municipal tax. Among other things, this tax pays for the collection of your waste by the Huisvuilcentrale (Household Waste Centre, or HVC). You will receive a bill for this waste collection charge. You are obliged to pay this bill to the Municipality of Schagen, even if you never hand in any waste.
The amount you have to pay
The amount you have to pay is determined according to the rates laid down in the Regulation on tariffs. You can find the waste collection charge regulation on the overheid.nl website.
The amount you have to pay depends on the number of inhabitants who are registered at the address. The number of users for a given year is determined on the basis of the situation as per 1 January of that year. The number of inhabitants that are registered at an address at that particular moment determines the amount to be paid. If you move to the municipality later in the year, the situation at that particular moment will apply. You will be charged for the number of full months that you are registered.

Moving house
If you move to the municipality, you will automatically receive a waste collection charge assessment at your new address for the remaining full months of the year. Were you already living in our municipality? You will not receive a new assessment. However, you must pay the assessment that you already received at your former address. What must I do if I am moving to a different municipality? You will automatically receive a reduction for the remaining full months of the year.

Are you unable to pay this amount? You can apply for remission of the waste collection charge assessment.
