Extract or copy from the civil register
General
An extract or copy from the civil register is a photocopy of an official document which records the important events in someone's life. For example: birth, marriage, divorce, registered partnership, dissolution of a registered partnership and death. You can apply for a copy or an extract of these records to the municipal authority where the information was officially recorded. In other words, in the municipality where the event took place.
Submitting an application

We only work on an appointment basis. You cannot drop in without an appointment. Appointments are free of charge.
What you need to bring with you
- A valid identity document
- Cash or a bank card.
Costs
A copy of the civil register costs € 16,50.
Delivery time
If you apply for a copy online, it will be sent to your home address within 5 days. Do you or does your representative wish to collect the copy in person at the Town Hall? The copy or extract will be made while you wait.
Who can submit an application?
You can do this yourself or you can give someone your written authorisation. In this case, you must attach a copy of your identity document. The person must be over the age of 18. There must always be a case of legitimate interest. Legitimate interest requires that the interest of the person who is in charge of having the personal data of another individual processed is greater than the interest in not processing the data of the individual in question. Authorisation is not required if the application is on behalf of a minor child or a spouse or partner living at the same address.
Difference between a copy of the civil register and an extract of the Key Persons Register
A copy of the civil register is not the same thing as an extract from the Key Persons Register. In an extract from the Key Persons Register, we officially declare that you are a resident of our municipality.
Foreign language
Do you wish to have your extract or copy written in a foreign language? Please let us know when you are submitting your application. You will receive your information on a special form that is printed in several languages.
Declaration of time of birth
Your birth certificate states the time of birth. An extract does not.
