Rectifying inaccurate personal data

General

We keep records of our residents in the Key Register of Persons (BRP). If there are inaccuracies in your personal data, you can ask the municipal authorities to correct it. This is known as a request for correction.

What is required in order to submit a request for correction?

  • A valid identity document.
  • The document which contains inaccurate information about you.
  • An official document bearing the correct information. For example: a marriage certificate.

You can check your data on MijnOverheid.nl

Please show us what is wrong with your personal data. For example: a letter from the municipality which contains inaccurate information concerning you. Or make a screen shot of your data as it appears on MijnOverheid.nl

We will rectify the data within 4 weeks. We will send you a letter when your personal data has been corrected. Sometimes, we may not be able to change your personal data. In that case, we will inform you by letter.

What information is kept in the Key Register of Persons?

The Key Register of Persons contains the following information:

  • Forenames
  • Surname
  • Gender
  • Public service number (Burgerservicenummer)
  • Names of parents
  • Nationality
  • Marriage or registered partnership
  • Date of death
  • Date of registration in the Key Register of Persons
  • Place of residence You are registered as living at this address.
  • Children
  • Residence permit This only applies if you are from another country.
  • Relationship of authority and guardianship
  • Travel document (passport and/or identity card)
  • Right to vote
